WHEN I MISS THE TELLY MOST
In times like the AFL footy finals is when I miss the telly most.
While most of the years that I lived without a telly, it seemed to hit me most the when the AFL footy finals come by. Seriously I’ve gone to extremes to find a place to watch a game here or there. Even one chilly AFL Grand Final I stood with chattering teeth and a shaking body in front of a large screen in Federation Square. The crowd was epic but…who kept me warm after some time?
The spirits.
Then other times I’ve managed to find much better places. Check out what happened one year and how it all unfolded…
FLASHBACK 2016…
‘Since yesterday I’ve had this calling that I needed to watch the game at my cousins place. At first I did nothing.
Then the gut feeling got so strong I couldn’t stay home any longer. Every time I hear the word Bulldogs I got tingles. I have a good feeling the doggies will win.
Also I feel my Nana G is behind all this pushing as she was a Footscray fan and used to go to matches. Let the game begin…’– 24thSeptember 2016
‘Today is the AFL Grand Final and for the past two weeks I’ve been tingling each time I see or hear the words Bulldogs. Then this morning I saw a field of men on an oval wearing the Bulldog jersey! Let’s see what happens even though my intuition says the Doggies are the winners! Have fun what ever you do, even if you or myself may not see the game. Trust that everything happens for the right reasons.’– 1stOctober 2016
Then by 2019 my birthday fell around the AFL so I ventured back to my parents place as I knew I would be guaranteed to watch the game with company. Even if I was my own cheer squad.
It still was the right decision.
Who knows how the following years unfold in the world of football and learning live without a telly. It’s just a gift from the future.
