THE MUPPETS
Who grew up watching The Muppets? Maybe you even named your family members after them. I can’t recall who I was. But my favourites are Kermit and Miss Piggy, Beaker, Fuzzy Bear and Animal.
Don’t know why I hardly knew my Uncle as he moved to Western Australia, when my family were living in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria. Although he was my godfather, I only ever saw him once when he was alive, as he passed away long ago. We named him Gonzo and still cackle whenever we see this character as it reminds us of him.

In some way this is a spiritual film and it is possible to see it the sequel to the film. Walter the puppet finds his place and Gary (played by Jason Segal) realizes what he’s missing out on if he follows Walter. Animal is the one using his sixth sense in the second film. This film is about believing in your self and finding that hidden talent.
I don’t think anything would ever match The Muppets in today’s world but it was a great childhood show to watch those characters put life into their bodies and show the world you can be anything.
Here is some of the teachings…
‘Maybe if you look inside of yourself, the person you should be most angry at is you.’
[Lady Coach to Animal – Anger Management]
‘Walter, just because you haven’t found your talent yet, doesn’t mean you don’t have one. If you look inside yourself, I’m sure you will find something that you are really good at.’ [Kermit to Walter]
~~~
‘You give people the greatest gift that can never be given.’
-laughter [Walter to Kermit]
Then this a passage from the film THE MUPPETS at the end…
‘This isn’t right.’ [Walter]
‘It can’t end like this.’ [Walter]
‘What can we do?’ Scooter
‘Listen everybody, we’ve got nothing to be ashamed of. And you know why?
Because of Walter, we tried. And if we failed, we all failed together, and to me that is not failing at all.
And I don’t care what anybody says.
And I don’t care if no one believes in us, because I believe.
I believe in you.
You know what’s important isn’t this building or name.
It’s each other, so I say fine, let’s just start at the bottom and work our way back up.
Let’s all walk out these doors with our heads held high. As family.
Because that is what we are.’ [Kermit]
